Welcome to St John's island |
Visit to St John's island and Kusu island
Visited St John's Island in 2020, one of the many islands south of Singapore for a quick escape.
The islands were just a short ferry ride from Marina South Pier.
This tranquil Southern Island escape offers surprisingly clear waters, quiet beaches, and a welcome dose of nature. Just enjoy the nice scenery and breeze there!
What to prepare before visiting?
There are no shops selling food and drinks especially in St John's island.
For Kusu Island it depends, if you are visiting on the 9th month of the Lunar calendar then there will be some food and drinks.
- Most important item to bring is plenty of water or any drinks since the island is almost always hot and humid!
- Pack some snacks or food since there are almost no shops there selling them. also a picnic mat.
- Bring Sun protections like sun glasses, hat/cap, sun screens, optional: umbrella or poncho for the unpredictable weather.
- Bring insect repellent!
- other optional items depending on your activity plan: Swimwear, towel, power banks.
Do remember to check the ferry schedule beforehand as there might be limited ferries going there.
So.. How to get to St John's Island?
- Take MRT to Marina south pier (North south line - red colour)
- Marina south pier ferry terminal is just right beside the MRT exit, there are alot of direction signs there so you don't have to worry.
- Buy a ticket , there are a few ferry operators there , but usually they sell a round trip ticket that goes to ST John, Kusu and Lazarus island. should cost about S$14.
OR
You can buy the ticket from Klook for extra discounts~ at the time of writing in 2025, Klook still offers $3 gongcha voucher for each ferry ticket. So its really much worth it!
After reaching the First stop St John's island, we just loiter & explore around and took some really nice photos.

Over looking Kusu island i think?
all the 3 islands are actually very near to each other
After some exploring, we say down at Lazarus island for a snack break.
Do remember to take note of the ferry schedule and plan your time well so as not to miss the timing and wait for another hour or so..

After awhile, dark clouds start forming, so we hurried back to St John island to take cover. |
 |
It started pouring.. but the sea is still so beautiful.. the water turned turquoise |

We spent about 3-4 hours before making our way to Kusu Island.
Took the ferry to Kusu island, this ferry go a round trip St John -> Kusu -> Marina south pier.
but do take note that some ferry goes straight from St John to Marina South pier directly, so you will have to check carefully.
