There are more places but i will just list down a few in this post and continue the rest in another post.

Free & Easy Malaysia - Johor, Melaka, Expenses, 5D4N July 2022

Roadtrip from Singapore to Melaka in July 2022

Roadtrips are one of my favorite way of travelling because i can plan my own itinerary, be away from the crowds and enjoy many hidden places that cannot be explored by public transport.
Would really recommend to do road trips whenever possible~

This trip includes spending 2 nights at Johor Bahru as a stopover at the beginning and end of the trip so that we can directly leave for Melaka the next morning and rest in JB before heading back to Singapore.

Trove hotel Johor Bahru

We managed to book at hotel for quite a low price of RM98 (about SGD30) per night at Trove hotel Johor Bahru, it was a last minute booking with Agoda.
The room was quite big and clean, but it is not really near any malls.
would still recommend the hotel if you stay here for a night or 2 in JB.

Trove Hotel JB

Drive to Melaka and Stay at The Pines Hotel in Melaka for 2 nights

The next morning, after a quick breakfast, we proceeded to drive to Melaka.
The Journey was about 3 hours including a quick pit stop.
The room for this Hotel is really big as well, and it feels like a nice apartment.
It is near the river. We parked our car here and took grab whenever we are going to the Jonker street or more crowded places where it is difficult to get a parking lot.

Huge room with a nice view and everything we need

The bathroom was huge as well and really 'comfortable'

The view from the room

another shot from the room

First stop, we went for the Chicken rice ball, which is one of the famous cuisine here in Melaka.
We just went to a random shop because most of the shops are already closed.
To be honest, i think normal chicken rice is still the best!
I don't really like the texture of rice being squeezed/crushed together.
but it is worth to just try once.

Chicken rice ball with nice herbal soup

Next stop, Melaka Sand Dunes

We parked quite far out near the beach area and walked in.
It was quite far and there are no shelters or shops on the way!
This Sand dunes or also called Padang Pasir Klebang is something like a desert with some sand hills!
it is one of the instgramable place.
Visit only if you are ok to walk a long distance to the location, we gave up halfway!

Beach area with horse ride and some activities

Walking to the Sand Dunes

Halfway there

Its still quite far away but already quite nice

Grey clouds starts coming in and we gave up and went back to our car

Visited the Famous Jonker street that night!

It is like a night market and there are many shops selling random things, and delicious food!
This place is very crowded during the weekends, we were lucky to be there on a weekday.

River

Entrance area of Jonker street

Curry fish ball! its nice~

There are many street stalls here

After walking for a distance, we sat down at the street food area and bought some famous and very delicious food for dinner. Ranking the food:
1. Fried Oyster Omelette
2. Chendol
3. Prawn noodles

i think all 3 of them are really nice !!

Random durian ice cream

Last glimpse of jonker street/walk before heading back to the hotel

Night view of Melaka from our hotel

Next day, we visited a few places.
First stop was Huskitory ! a place where you can get to mingle with the huskies and touch them!
it is abit overprice but worth the experience~
Do remember to make reservation before going as there are limited slots and it tends to get fully booked quite quickly.

the price of about RM30++ includes a free drink

The huskies are soo well behaved

And cute!

We can touch and also take photo with them

The performance by the huskies

Crowded with huskies and humans

We also visited the Mamee museum, this is an instant noodle brand in malaysia.
You can customize or design your own instant noodle cup here~ kind of similar to the one in Japan.
they also sell the Marmee instant noodle snacks and instant noodles here as well, we bought some back :D

Mamee house

Durian ice cream to cool down

The street in melaka

more random shots of the street area

Prison Museum

We still had some time to spare, so we randomly visited the Prison Museum
The admission fee is RM3 which is really affordable.
You get to see the prison cell and compound and how prison life is like in melaka.
good place to visit if you have some time to spare.

Entrance

There are many different displays here

Cooking area of the prison

The compound or court

Dinner at Portuguese settlement

We had dinner at De Costa's 8 Portuguese Seafood .
Ordered seafood and they are quite fresh ! however do note that the place is not air-conditioned, so its either indoor seating with fan or outdoor seating.

There are a few seafood stalls there, you can check the reviews on google in advance

This cost about RM219 which is really worth it!

Rows of seafood stalls here

After dinner, we had a quick stop at Riviera suites Melaka, to take photos of the building itself.

Malacca Straits Mosque

Last attraction of the day will be visiting the floating mosque of Melaka.
We are allowed to walk around the outside and see this beautiful architecture!
It looks nicer at night or in the evening with the lightings.

Enjoying the architecture

A shot of the mosque with the water! from far it looks like the mosque is floating on the water

Takeaway Supper
Back to jonker walk / street to takeaway some supper!

Had satay, carrot cake and fried kway tiao

Melaka to Johor Bahru

Visited the Malacca Chinese Mosque!
This place is really unique as it has a Chinese architecture design with pagodas and Chinese calligraphy, but it is a mosque!
i would recommend visiting this place to tour around~
This place is really peaceful on a sunday morning!

The architecture from the front

side view of the pagoda

The color of the flowers really matches the building here

Grabbing some tea, loving this kind of traditional packaging

Johor Bahru and staying at Z Hotel

Reached Johor and spent another night here.
The parking here is really small and tight, so do be very careful~
but overall this hotel is located near many restaurants!

Room wise not too bad

宽城子 成都市井火锅 (Steamboat restaurant)
Tried this Mala steamboat near Austin area, the price was abit high for the quantity of each dish but the taste is really good.
i would say to try this only if you have no other selections or already tried most of the steamboat restaurant in JB.

Ambience was good

Soup was nice, very spicy though

we ordered alot of dishes

but the quantity of each dish ok only comparing to the price

Restoran Hua Mui JB

Next morning, we had breakfast here , this is nearby Z hotel.
popular dish is the hainanese chicken chop!
They also sell also many other dishes like mee siam, kaya toasts etc.
the taste was really nice! but i just dont really like the chicken 'fats'  and thigh
would still recommend you to try!

after that, we went for a quick supermarket run before leaving JB!
